Back to our Roots

African Women, It’s time to end the hair abuse and embrace what God has given us through Mother Nature.
As the world goes organic; reliance on chemicals to refine hair and make us feel good should be not be the way to go.
I wonder what this is all about anyway, go to any salon now, and meet the horror movies called ladies as we take off those weaves, extensions, the Peruvian/Brazilian Indian and all the “ian” hair of this world taken from God knows where, “What is revealed”……………. a scary half bald, receded at the roots, glamour less thing, and worst still take of all the foundation and tint and Jesus help you if she had falsies for lashes too…. and they take those off as well!, Uuuuuuggghh!!!!!!,   men before you choose please make sure you see us  mother nature” mode, then decide.
Ladies, as one of you, I mean no harm; I really don’t, love you all to bits and will do all I can to empower a woman, at least mentally.
But….Please…. love yourself, let’s go back to yesteryears, we could even funkify the plaits, the weaving, threading, I’ve seen this done in Lagos, we could have natural hair saloons, dread locks are cool but should this be the only option?
I wore my hair in a perfect fro the other day; it was a bit lower than Michael Jackson’s of the 70’s. It took me a year to grow it out like that and I summoned up courage to take it to work.
Those who were soul people with depth and appreciation loved it and cheered, some (Jealous ones) scoffed and sarcastically asked me where I bought such a natural looking weave,so that they could get it themselves, some asked me sourly if I were broke.
Within a week I went back to my weaves and fake glamour, one of the real sisters actually came up to me and confessed to being extremely jealous of my natural hair that day considering she had none left.
My lovely sisters from Nubian/Negro or otherwise black origins, please let us come together and decide to go natural and beautiful again, no more chemicals, no more baldness, no more stress, just textured, natural, afro, kinky, nappy, coily, twisted or locked up Afro-hair.
You’ll even sleep better and live longer (smile).
